Lampwork Tutorials



The FALLEN LEAF




This tutorial will show you the step by step procedure for creating a Fallen Leaf bead design on the end of a mandrel. This tutorial will start by creating the base, then shaping the leaf and finally applying the decorative design.

This lampwork tutorial is for the Intermediate glass lampwork artist in mind who is well familiar with all aspects of lampworking including working with an open flame, melting glass rods, all safety precautions, etc. It is assumed that you have knowledge and experience in the basic making and shaping of beads, pulling stingers and using them, dot placement , encasing and basic cane pulling techniques.

Included in this lampwork tutorial are instructions, high quality photos, a video tutorial and a workbench friendly animated pull out sheet.

The glass referred to and demonstrated with throughout this tutorial is all COE-104, mainly Effetre and silver reduction glass. This tutorial covers techniques exclusive to my bead designs.



The PAINTED WINGED HEART

This lampwork tutorial will show you the step by step procedure for creating a winged heart bead with a painted design, on the end of a mandrel. This tutorial will start by creating the base/pattern, then shaping the heart and finally applying the wings. 

The only part of this tutorial that is similar to the "Broken Heart Tutorial" is only in the shaping of the heart process, no other information included will be the same.
Included is a video tutorial and workbench friendly pull out sheet.

The FEATHER

Feathers were worn by Native American Chiefs to symbolize their communication with Spirit, and to express their celestial wisdom. In dreams feathers mean travel or the ability to move more freely in life. White feathers in dreams indicate innocence or a fresh start in a spiritual sense.

This tutorial will show you the step by step procedure for creating two variations of a Feather Bead in a relief style. The first variation is a Hawk feather pattern, while the second variation is an Eagle feather pattern.

This tutorial will start by creating the base, adding shards, then finally applying and creating the feather patterns.

The ARROWHEAD & SHARDS

This tutorial will take you through the steps of creating an Arrowhead. This tutorial is in two parts, Part 1 will be the shard secret recipe “Waterfall” and application of the shards, Part 2 will be the Arrowhead tutorial.

The BROKEN HEART

This tutorial is 10 pages and 39 photos of step by step instructions explaining the "Broken Heart" technique as well as a free "bail" tutorial.

This bead is created on the end of a mandrel. There is a partial hole in the top centre of the bead. A free bail tutorial will also be sent to everyone purchasing the "Broken Heart" tutorial.

This technique is with the use of soft glass 104CEO. I use Moretti/Effetre and reactive glass from Double Helix.




The CORAL SHARDS

This tutorial includes 5 pages, 20 photos & step-by-step easy to follow instructions on how to create Shards. Once you've read this tutorial you can use your own choices of colors to create your own special shards.

The RAINBOW SCALES

Included in this lampwork tutorial are step by step instructions and high quality photos.

The glass referred to and demonstrated with throughout this tutorial is all COE-104 - mainly Effetre and silver reduction glass.

This technique is with the use of soft glass 104CEO. I use Moretti/Effetre and reactive glass from Double Helix.

Recommended glass is: Terra, Terra 2, Ekho and Kronos from www.Doublehelixglassworks.com , as well as a new glass "Fire Lotus" from Tag glass. This tutorial is 7 Pages and 24 photos of step by step instructions explaining the "Rainbow Scales" technique as well as the "Rain Drop" technique.
